Comórtas Scannán TG4, 2010
Transition year students submit story outlines and a script. A shortlist of entries is selected and the chosen teams are provided with resources and professional television expertise to produce the short-listed projects. An awards ceremony is held in the Irish Film Centre in Dublin every year. Here, the films are shown and the national winner is announced. All the films are broadcast on TG4 every year.
The national winners (and teacher) travel to the Ciak Junior International Film Festival in Italy. This is the world final where the national winner is in competition with other countries from all over the world including South Africa, China and India to name but a few.
Previous Irish winners have had great success at this prestigious international festival for young filmmakers.
The shortlisted schools in the 2009 competition were...
- Castleknock Community School, Dublin 15
- Our Lady's Bower, Athlone
- Laurel Hill Secondary School, Limerick
